Replacing the glass pane with paper and lead

Late-night smartphone scrolling keeps the nervous system humming long after the room goes dark. Shifting attention to physical linework signals the mind that the day's obligations have ended.

By keeping a botanical colouring book and a jar of sharpened pencils beside the lamp, the evening transition becomes a deliberate ritual of quiet decompression and tactile restoration.

Field notes

Wax-based versus oil-based leads on our paper stock

Our heavy-tooth paper reacts differently depending on the corebinder. Wax pencils lay down pigment quickly with velvety coverage, while oil-based leads hold a finer point for intricate maze cross-hatching.

Both formulas glide smoothly without tearing the page fibres, allowing deep layering and gentle burnishing under soft morning light.

From the bedside table

Sharpening twenty pencils and sitting down with a puzzle book has become the single anchor of my evening routine. My phone stays in the kitchen.
